Learn the craft. Find your sound. Start your journey.
Ever wanted to learn how to DJ? Now’s your chance to get behind the decks.
Guava House is partnering with the DJ Gio Life Is Music and Art Foundation to introduce the next generation of DJs to the fundamental mechanics of modern-day DJing. This hands-on program is designed to help students build real skills, develop confidence, and discover what’s possible when music meets creativity.
The DJ Academy is designed as a three-session learning journey, with each session building on the skills and experience developed along the way.
This first session runs for 7 weeks, giving students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, practice their techniques, and grow more comfortable behind the decks. Students who want to continue developing their skills can build on that foundation through the next sessions.
The key to learning DJing? Showing up and putting in the work.
Each week builds on the last, so consistent attendance is essential. We're looking for students who are ready to commit to the full session, show up ready to learn, and give themselves the opportunity to grow.
No need to own a DJ setup to get started. Equipment is provided for hands-on learning, including:
Apple iPad
Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 controller
Sony headphones
Just bring your curiosity, creativity, and commitment.
Schedule: Wednesdays, 6-8 PM
Duration: 7 weeks
Last Day of Session 1: December 16, 2026
Location: Guava House, 1722 J Street, Midtown Sacramento
Ages 18 and under: Free
Adults: $25 per class
Our DJ Academy has limited capacity, and weekly sessions tend to sell out.
Registering for the full session is strongly encouraged. Learning the fundamentals takes time, and missing classes can make it harder to keep up as new skills are introduced.
Drop-ins may be available when space remains, but drop-in availability is not guaranteed. If a session sells out, no additional spots will be available that week.
If you're serious about learning, make the commitment and secure your place from the start.
DJ Gio discovered his passion for DJing at just 11 years old. Through the DJ Gio Life Is Music and Art Foundation, he's helping create opportunities for the next generation to discover their talents, develop their skills, and explore their potential through music.
